The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Music & The Arts (CAAMA)
and TuneCore Announce Partnership
The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Music & The Arts (CAAMA)
has teamed up with TuneCore, the global leader in digital music distribution. The partnership provides CAAMA members as well as all Canadian independent artists the opportunity to have their music on the shelves of iTunes, AmazonMP3 and other top digital stores - while keeping all of their rights and receiving 100% of the revenue from the sale of their music. TuneCore has single handedly changed the music industry by allowing all artists to have a career without being signed by a label - all for a simple flat fee.
“Time and again we have heard from our members that one of their highest priorities is overcoming the challenge of securing worldwide digital distribution,” remarks CAAMA President, Patti-Janetta Baker. “To assist our members in realizing this goal, CAAMA is partnering with a third party provider, TuneCore, to launch Worldwide Digital Distribution (WDD), a service that will allow these artists to make their music available for sale internationally, without having to sign a contract or give up a percentage to a middleman.”
Worldwide Digital Distribution will launch at Canadian Music Week, March 9 through 13 in Toronto. The union between TuneCore and CAAMA, through its association with CMW, is the first time a music conference has provided artists the ability to get global music distribution. Any artist who signs up for a free TuneCore account through one of the five Canadian Music Week-related sites listed below, will receive 20% off distribution of an album, single or ringtone.
TuneCore CEO Jeff Price will lead a panel at the conference titled “How To Outsell A Major Without A Label”, Thursday, March 10th @3:45 p.m. in the Ballroom at the Fairmont Royal York. Panelists include TuneCore Artists Liam Sullivan, Melanie Doane, Mike Gonek (of Nights & Weekends), and Doug Kaye, head of label operations at Average Joe’s Entertainment, as they discuss their success through digital sales. Both Doane and Nights & Weekends are top-selling Toronto artists, having sold 12,160 songs and 9,089 songs respectively to date through TuneCore digital distribution.
Jeff Price is available for interviews.
